Here are some of the things we feel are very important about the church:
A Christ-Centered Church
The center of our focus must be Jesus who died to save us. Jesus is the head of His church and the savior of the body (Ephesians 5:23). We must say as Paul, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Galatians 6:14)
A Bible Church
Not just one that claims to study the Bible, but one that is based upon the Bible. We endeavor to have Bible authority for all that we practice in worship, work, and church organization. The Bible tells us that we are to do all by the authority of Christ (Colossians 3:17). This means we practice what the Word of God tells us to do, and that we do not add to or take from it.
A Church with Scriptural Worship
It is imperative that we worship according to the way that God wishes—and not according to our own wishes. Christ chastised the Pharisees for making their own laws and neglecting those of God. “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). Worship can only please God when it is directed by Him. In our worship you will find those practices taught in the New Testament:
Singing – Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19
Prayer – 1Thessalonians 5:17
Preaching – Acts 20:7
Lord’s Supper – Acts 20:7; 1Cor. 11:23-26
Giving – 1Corinthians 16:1-2
How can worship be right if it includes that which the Bible does not? How can it be wrong if it includes all that the Bible teaches … and nothing else? Of course, our worship is not to be ritualistic, but both “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
A Church with a Mission
Jesus told his disciples, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). This is the work of the members of the church.
A Church with a Simple Method of Entry
One is added to the church by Christ when he is saved. Acts 2:47 says, “and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
God’s Plan of Salvation
John 8:24—Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
Acts 2:38—Repent of sins
Romans 10:10 & Acts 8:37—Confess Jesus as God’s Son
Acts 22:16 & Romans 6:3-4—Be baptized into Christ
Galatians 6:9—Continue to be faithful the rest of your life
The motivation for doing these things is the love of Christ. Christians must endeavor to love one another as Christ loves us.
Delay is Dangerous
Many intend to obey God and become a part of His church, but they never get around to it. Remember that life is short (James 4:13-14). Do it today.
